SWIM between the flags at Lennox Head this summer and the chances are you’ll be under the watchful eye of some of the best-trained surf life-savers in the country.

The quality of the training at the Lennox Head-Alstonville Surf Life Saving Club has been recognised nationally, with the club’s Larry Platt being crowned Australian Surf Life Saving’s assessor of the year.

The national prize completes a well-earned trifecta for Larry, one of only five life members at Lennox Head-Alstonville, after being awarded both the Far North Coast and NSW assessor of the year titles recently.

Club president Wayne Jones said Larry’s award was proof of the high standards that were being maintained by life-savers on North Coast beaches.

“Recognition of Larry as the best in Australia reflects the hundreds of hours that he puts in every season to ensure that people patrolling our beaches maintain the standard of excellence required to keep our communities safe,” he said.
