Murray combined well with club mate Jacob McGoldrick to blow their competition out of the water.

They positioned themselves ona perfect wave about 150 metres from shore and were lucky enough to ride it all the way in, to win by a convincing margin.

It capped a big weekend for Murray. He also finished second in the Under-15 ironman and third in the Under-15 surf swim.

The Lennox Head club claimed two gold medals, two silver and a bronze from the 12 athletes who competed.

"We're really proud of the way our athletes mentally prepared for these championships. It's not easy to perform well on a stage as big as the national championships," Lennox Head-Alstonville senior manager Lou Wilson said.

Powerhouse club Northcliffe finished at the top of the table on 389 points.

Mooloolaba was second on 218 points and host club Kurrawa third on 192.5.
